Cabernet Sauvignon

Geyser Peak Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

"Known for luscious Cabernet Sauvignons, this wine is a classic example of Geyser Peak Winery’s intense, lively style. Forward fruit characters of black cherry and blackberry dominate the aromas, with underlying grace notes of dark chocolate and spice. In typical Geyser Peak style, the bright fruit is nicely supported by a restrained oak character. The palate is rich, round and lush, seamlessly pairing the cherry and berry fruit with a hint of spice and vanilla. The fine-grained tannins meld into a persistent, lingering finish."

Gnarly Head Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

"Aromas of black peppercorn, cedar and blackberries lead in this dark, bold Cab. A wave of juicy blueberries and currants breaks on the palate followed by hints of violets, earth, cloves and cocoa. Supported by solid tannins, the flavor lingers like a long, smooth ride on a perfect wave.

This Cabernet crowd pleaser is great at a party with spicy meatballs or strong cheeses, but its equally comfortable with dinner for one or two with steak, lamb, fire-roasted vegetables or hearty lasagna.

Gnarly Head Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted using grapes from specially selected vineyards in Napa Valley, Monterey and Lodi. The Napa Cabernet Sauvignon in this wine is from Rutherford, contributing the ripe fruit and earthy notes. Cabernet Franc from Monterey contributes aromatic notes of violets, currants and spices. Lodi delivers juicy fruit and voluptuous body to this wine through Malbec, Merlot and Petite Sirah. The finest California appellations and a selection of Bordeaux grapes create this Gnarly Cab."

Sebastiani Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

"This dark garnet-colored wine has black cherry and blackberry aromas with hints of coconut from the oak. The flavor is full-bodied with lots of blackberry on the entry with firm tannins and subtle oak in the back palate. It is a richer, chewier wine than the 2003 vintage due to the warmth and ripeness of the vintage. It will most definitely improve with bottle age."

Grayson Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

"The 2005 Grayson Cabernet Sauvignon shows a deep violet and crimson color. Aromas of cherry and cassis give way to blackberry and slight vanilla/toasty notes from the oak. The palate is plush and full-bodied with fresh cherry and berry flavors. The fine tannins and a balanced acidity create a soft and supple texture."

Pavin and Riley Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

"Dark purple color opens to a perfumed nose of big black cherries, herbs and cedar. Black cherries continue on the palate coupled with leather and cedar notes. Ripe tannins provide full structure while maintaining a long, smooth finish."

Liberty School 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon

"The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit that composes this bottling comes from not only Paso Robles, but from other appellations in California as well. This wine has very engaging aromas of blackberry brambles, layered with dark cherry, chocolate and cassis. On the palate, initial softness amplifies in to a warm, supple firmness."

Clos du Bois 2000 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

"Aromas of ripe cherries and vanilla develop toast and spice nuances after opening up in the glass.  The flavors echo the nose and are delivered in a medium-bodied mouthful that has supple texture and shows a great spicy character on the finish."
